Career Carnival for Kids returned to the Lincoln Park Library on September 30, 2025 to celebrate animal careers with an outstanding group of Career Guides and many amazing animals. This was our first Animal Careers That Create Change program but given the enthusiastic response from the 100 kids and families who joined the fun, it probably won’t be the last.
The canine community was represented exceptionally well by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Crisis Response Canines, Creature Comforts Pet Therapy, and The Spotted Dog. Participants learned about working with dogs in law enforcement, experienced therapy dogs in action, and discovered dog care careers.
Reptile lovers – along with those who came to love reptiles as a result of this Career Carnival – got up close and personal with snakes, a toad, and a bearded dragon, courtesy of the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum & Bird Sanctuary and Cola’s Cold-Blooded World.
While we couldn’t invite a horse to the beautiful Lincoln Park Library, that didn’t stop our Career Guides from the North Jersey Equestrian Center from introducing the many career paths available to equestrian enthusiasts.
Participants with an interest in insects enjoyed the always-amazing Morris County Division of Mosquito Control and also learned about the fascinating work that the Essex County Beekeepers Society do.
Last, but never least, Morris County 4H shared information about their animal-related clubs and activities and their many other excellent offerings, with some help from a trio of friendly guinea pigs.
Special thanks to our generous event sponsors from Sea Breeze Syrup, Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary, Alliance for Therapy Dogs, and Mathnasium and to the fabulous Lincoln Park librarians.
